Draft
Hi Jim,
Big congrats again on getting GoDaddy unlocked. With the domain back in your hands, we have a real path to rebuild the site fresh and walk away from the Shape Society dependency entirely.
Quick prep list of things we'll need from you to make this go smoothly. None of this is urgent today, but the more we have lined up before our Monday session, the more we can get done. I'll work through what I can in the meantime.
The big one: when you have a few minutes, can you save the GoDaddy login somewhere we can both reach (1Password is ideal if you use it, or just a doc you share with me)? Once I'm in there, I can handle the whole technical side of pointing the domain at the new site for you. You won't need to touch any of it.
A handful of other things I'll need at some point in the next couple of weeks:
The Benson Theatre EIN, so we can get the proper tax-deductible language on the donation page and the footer. It should be on the IRS letter you submitted to GoDaddy.
Logo files in their original Adobe Illustrator or vector format if Shape Society ever sent them over. If you have white, black, and color versions, even better. If not, I can recreate them from what's on the site today.
A current list of community partners and sponsors. The page is on the existing site but doesn't actually list anyone. Same for the Board of Directors if you want them recognized separately from staff.
The most recent annual report or 990 link, if you'd like that linked from the site. If not, I can point to your Candid Platinum profile, which Candid keeps current automatically.
Quick clarity on a few things I'll ask Monday too:
How does the current quarterly insider newsletter actually go out today? Mailchimp, Brevo, manual from Gmail, something else?
Who actually owns the PayPal account collecting donations and recurring memberships right now? If it's a Shape Society account or something tied to a personal email, that's a different conversation we want to have before launch so existing donors don't end up orphaned.
For past events on the new calendar, do you want them to disappear after they happen, get archived to a "past shows" page, or just stay visible forever?
Once we're up and running, who's the day-to-day point person on your end for adding events, news posts, and updating page copy? My guess would be Miranda, but I don't want to assume.
I'm building everything else in the meantime so when you and I sit down Monday, you'll have a real working site to react to instead of a blank slate.
Thanks!
Eric
Notes for Eric reviewing this draft
- Tone target: warm-professional, no em-dashes, no AI tells, no meeting offers. Per /chatty rules.
- Closing: "Thanks!" is your standard. Adjusted from "Have a great week!" since this is mid-week.
- What I deliberately did NOT include:
- DNS / TXT record / DKIM jargon — too technical for a board member email
- Specific dates or hour estimates (per timing rule)
- Meeting offers or "happy to jump on a call" (per the standing rule)
- What you might want to add or change:
- If you want to mention the May 11 session by name and time, swap "Monday" for "Monday at 11" or similar
- If there's a thread with Jim already going about GoDaddy, fire this as a Reply All on that thread instead of a new email
- If Miranda should be CC'd, add her once we have her email
- Jim's email signature line is "Jim Schneider | (402) 651-0572" — no formal title in his sig
Gmail send instructions (when ready)
- Search for an existing thread with Jim about the GoDaddy recovery / account recovery — reply on that thread if it exists, fresh email otherwise
- Use mimeType
text/html, wrap each paragraph in<p>tags, no hard line breaks within paragraphs - CC nobody by default — if Eric wants Brooke or Miranda on it, add at send
