Hearts & Fire — Shopify Setup Checklist
Context: If client moves forward with Shopify instead of Lightspeed, the quote adds 10 hours for Shopify onboarding/setup support. This is the working checklist of everything that needs to happen. Some items Eric handles, some the client handles — TBD as we go.
Store Configuration
- [ ] Tax setup (Nebraska sales tax, destination-based if shipping to other states, tax-exempt categories if applicable)
- [ ] Shipping zones and rates (flat rate tiers for small items, local delivery for furniture, free shipping thresholds)
- [ ] Payment gateway (Shopify Payments setup, test transactions)
- [ ] Checkout settings (customer accounts, order processing, tipping if in-store)
Product & Data
- [ ] Product catalog migration from Lightspeed (CSV export/import, variant mapping, images)
- [ ] Collection/category structure
- [ ] Product tagging strategy (shippable vs in-store only, custom vs ready-made)
Deposit & Custom Orders
- [ ] Deposit/partial payment app setup and configuration (Downpay or similar)
- [ ] Payment schedule templates (25/25/50, 50/50, etc.)
- [ ] Custom order workflow documentation for staff
Dropshipping
- [ ] Dropship supplier integration (DSers, Spocket, or direct vendor setup)
- [ ] Fulfillment routing (which items ship from store vs supplier)
Notifications & Email
- [ ] Transactional email customization (order confirmation, shipping, deposit reminders)
- [ ] Email sender authentication (SPF/DKIM records)
- [ ] Staff notification settings
POS (if switching)
